But then, you realize that it's not really hilarious. It's just plain bad. And the laughter you experienced morphs into a groan.
Ultimately, you are left with a sense of utter perplexity. You question about the purpose of it all. Was this intended to be funny?
Or were we just living in a simulation gone wrong?

Worst Day Ever
It all started with a case of terrible hair. I couldn't make it to look decent. As I was running out the door, I fell and spilled all over my new shoes. To make matters worse, I was extremely late for school.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to run away and hide.
